III, iv. 1. Prayer is the realization of eternity. In prayer is beauty, love, daring, courage, self-sacrifice, steadfastness, aspiration. But if in prayer are included superstition, fear and doubt, such invocation is related to fetishism. "Pray in no wise but in spirit." 2. If we begin to decompose matter, one sees that the liberated atoms begin to arrange themselves according to basic tone, and, escaping into the ether, they form a rainbow resounding with the music of the spheres. Our Ray dispatches myriads of purified particles which enwrap the man if there be no astral whirlwind about him. Lower spirits rend the Ray like monkeys, tearing the precious fabric without any benefit to themselves. 3. Keep in mind that in time of danger you must encircle yourself in realization of personal invulnerability, then send your consciousness to meet My Ray. Imagine mentally how your spark rushes to My current. 4. Surrounded and threatened, Akbar addressed his commanders: "The less agitated the substance, the more clear the reflection of the summits." After inspecting his army, Akbar said "A fourth part is achieved, I've seen quieted men. The rest comes due after a day's heat, a day's rain and a sleepless night." 5. If asked "Why did you acknowledge the Teacher?", reply "Because He addressed us for the development of our understanding." 6. Qualities distinctive in those seeking the common good--first, constancy of striving, second, ability of containment, third, ability to labor. Fourth, the desire to help without prejudice and usurpation, fifth, acceptance for safekeeping of others' creative fruit and renouncement of personal property. Sixth, expulsion of fear, seventh, keeping vigilant amid darkness. The greyish twilight of servility has brought on a wretched conception of life! 9. Unexpectedness is the sister of mobility. Mobility is the sister of achievement. Achievement is the brother of victory. 10. If we can rise in thought to the boundaries of the miraculous, we shall not speak lengthily about a worn-out sole. There is no worse act of non-comeasurement than to renounce responsibility. There is no worse act of non-comeasurement than to cease thinking of beauty. Co-measurement is like the pillar supporting the house. 11. Our determination is bound only by spirit's limits. Warriors and builders of life proceed by Our determination. If stupidity impedes, better let one's horses go by themselves. Only beauty promotes determination. 12. One must cast aside all past considerations and rush into a desert of boundless stillness where thunderstorms and whirlwinds entwine one under a radiant dome. Amidst storms a new raiment is woven. The experience of homeless wandering must be lived thru. 13. Out of hatred, ignorance and fear men implant poisoned arrows, the force of which is great. One of the best means of defense is the concept of the occult circle. Will all strength guard the treasure of the circle. 14. When action becomes great, it can dispense with earthly objects. This is the first touchstone of action. The second quality of action is its mobility. Like a whirlwind of primary matter, a true action must vibrate with possibilities. The third quality of action is its unexpectedness, and the fourth is its elusiveness. Fifth is its convincingness. As every lightning-flash connects our consciousness with Cosmos, so each action should strike like a flashing sword. The sixth quality is its lawfulness. Only the consciousness of the fundamentals of evolution advance action immutably. The seventh quality of action is its pure motive. 15. Upon entering a houseful of restless people, declare: "Look forward to the evolution of the world!" III, v. 1. Touching upon the height of freedom, one must guard against ugliness. Wishing to exalt matter, one must consider wisely beauty. In beauty one transforms matter into a rainbow. How? Each realization is born in beauty. 2. The way of renouncing ugliness in life prompts the spirit to truthful quests. It is generally better to replace the word "saint" with a precise term--achiever. 3. A prophet is one possessing spiritual foresight. Among known prophecies one does not find selfish intent, criminal self-interest, slander. Symbolic visions are tinted due to distance in space and time. It is time to learn to approach manifestations culturally. Let a whirlwind sweep away the roots shrouding Dawn! And the beauteous sunrise is in the East! 5. It is possible to issue decrees, make promises, intimidate, but only understanding impels. Decision is valued according to its applicability, which in turn is key to spirit-knowledge. Whoever rejoices has faith also. We compute well, We apply well. When filled with immutability, one is attuning to the planetary magnet. 6. Avoid uniformity of place and work. The slave of property loses mobility of spirit. The embryo of proprietorship is fear, the feeling that one must be attached to the Earth at least by something! As if a miserable hovel could be adequate anchor for spirit! How much new health there is in diversity of place and labor! 7. Nirvana is the quality of assimilation of all actions. Saturation of all-inclusiveness brings true knowledge. Quietude does not express the essential nature of the condition. Action as meritorious is too little understood. The construction of large cities ought to be cautiously planned. Least significant is contemporary politics as this concept lacks scientific basis and beauty. In selecting coworkers pay attention to details in small actions. A man obsessed with thoughts of differing truths is like the man who much dwells on the seeing difference of his two eyes, he loses conceptual perspective. 10. It is joyous to realize that quality can ever improve as there is spiritual discipline. 11. When harmfulness and usefulness are indicated, as in law-making, the essential nature must be shown. The entire world of events divides twixt individual and general welfare. People betray, slander and revile the bearers of the common weal, but is the traitor's life easy? The principal thefts are those of knowledge and creative ideas, not easy to guard against. 12. Very ancient mysteries said: "The lingam is the vessel of wisdom." The fact of conception is so wondrous that it is impossible to deal with it by ordinary measures. Everything irreplaceable will be in the prime places of conservation. Let us picture temperance as wings! 13. There is no worse occupation than forcible imposition of one's creed. Only that Teaching which contains all hope, which makes life beautiful, which manifests action, can promote true evolution. We say that man is continually being born, particularly at the moment of so-called death. Verily, there has been enough of graves, cemeteries, intimidations. The path of light will appear when one ventures to look scientifically and without prejudice. The daring ones are with Us--joy to the daring ones! 16. If one is to call oneself a sun-bearer, one must forget about darkness. Each summoned one is offered the entire chalice. It must be said to those choosing a lesser portion: "Self-belittlers, you have driven yourselves from the garden thru habits of lightmindedness. Perceive how readily one may acknowledge the messenger of the chalice. Together with him you could have planted a seedling of great freedom. How hard now to look into passerby eyes, seeking him who sought admittance to you. What is available today is inaccessible tomorrow. Therefore, gird yourselves with all vigilance." Let the sleeper continue his slumber! 17. One may ask, "How should one conduct oneself so as not to taint the chosen portion?" Instead of a particle, choose the entire chalice of the common good. Resolve as experiment to adopt for seven years the plan of the general welfare. If this advice is poor, you can return later to breeding your cockroaches. I tell the wavering one, beware of becoming a traitor, the fate of even a small traitor is horrid! To the toiler I say that to attract a small force is considerable, to attract a great force is a luminous achievement. Verily, the chalice of the common weal is not weighty to the toiler. 18. How find the way to Our Laboratories? Without a Guide no one passes! Necessary is an indomitable personal striving and readiness for the hardships of the way. Since Our Messenger does not shout in the marketplace, so too those who have been with Us know how to guard the common weal. An unmistakeable sign of Our Call is when you are borne irresistibly as if on wings. Thus accept Our community of knowledge and beauty. Remember those working for the common good! 19. One inevitably encounters a certain kind of people who fly into a rage at mention of the masters. Beware of them! Upon encountering sickly children inquire about the quality of their teachers. Give the children only real, true objects! 20. If renouncement of the personal brings one near, then abstinence from action for the common good removes one immeasurably--a law. Why so many tests? In community everything is attained by experience. To evaluate the treasure of time is possible only thru labor for the general welfare. Aimlessly stealing someone's time equates to stealing ideas.
